As 2016 World Tourism Day, which holds tomorrow, Tuesday, September 27, draws closer, the Deputy Governor of Imo State, Prince Eze Madumere has called on the private sector to partner with Imo State government in the development of the tourism potentials of State.
Prince Madumere’s call was contained in a press release signed by his Special Assistant on Media, Uche Onwuchekwa and made available to DAYLIGHT.NG.
According to the release, Prince Madumere described tourism as a way of life since its nucleus is embedded in people’s culture, which serves as a comparative advantage to the host States due to its socio-economic values.
Prince Madumere extolled Governor Okorocha’s poise to bringing about development in tourism sector through strategic effort towards creating a conducive environment to aid the sector. He explained that Government’s effort in urban renewal Project, Imo My Pride policy, harnessing the local resources to move the State forward especially with the prevailing economic challenges through establishment of institutions like Community Government Councils, re-engineering of the health sector and collaborating with the security agencies to ensure security of lives and property demonstrate Governor Okorocha’s visionary steps in right direction to develop the sector.
While calling on the good people of Imo State to endear the world by their good conduct, cherished values and hospitable traditions, he called on the private sector to partner with Imo government to harness great potentials of the State in tourism especially towards developing numerous natural tourist destinations that are of national and world interest.
He averred that tourism with its healthy and socio-economic benefits requires general effort towards making it accessible to all, which is in line with the theme of 2016 World Tourism Day, which is “Tourism for All – Promoting Universal Accessibility.
