World number one, Djokovic knocked out in Shanghai



Novak Djokovic, defending champion and world number one has been knocked out of Shanghai Rolex Masters by Spaniard Roberto Bautista Agut. Novak Djokovic

It was  Agut’s  first  ATP World Tour Masters 1000 final and his first victory against Djokovic in six matches.

He beat Djokovic 6-4, 6-4 and will now meet the winner in the second semi-final match, between Andy Murray of Britain and Gilles Simon of France.

The 28 year old right handed player, ranked 19th in the world, had on Friday ousted ninth seed Jo-Wilfried Tsonga 6-3, 6-4 . His first semi-final came two years ago on home soil in Madrid, where he lost to Rafael Nadal. “I am playing well and I’m doing the things well to face Novak,” said the Spaniard on Friday.

“For sure it’s a good moment to face him. Novak is one of the best tennis players in history. I played against him a couple of really good matches. I know if I play good I can make it a difficult match for him,” he said. And he really played well,bigger than Djokovic,  recording only one double fault to Djokovic’s two and winning six break points out of 7.

He also recorded more aces, 5-4, in comparison with World Number One. He took the first set in 42 minutes with his first break point and broke three times in the next one for victory. Djokovic trailing 3-5, after he was broken by Agut, broke Agut back to stay alive in the second set. But he failed to save a match point, when he was serving 4-5.
